For a truly memorable holiday, spend a couple of weeks on beautiful Hornby Island!

This home has a great sundeck, surrounded by old growth cedar and fir trees, and is located just a few minutes from Grassy Point beach.

The two bedrooms have one double bed each plus an extra single bed in the master bedroom. The house has all the conveniences — running cold and hot water; a bathroom with tub, shower, and composting toilet; a fully equipped kitchen, and an outdoor BBQ.

Weekly rentals are still available. Rates are $800 (Canadian) per week (Sunday p.m. till Sunday a.m. or enquire) for up to 4 guests. Rates during Festival Week are $850. A fifth guest can be accommodated for an additional $50 charge. Special off-season rates are available, as are weekend get-aways and writers/artists retreats throughout the year.

Hornby Island, the “magic island”, is known for its natural beauty, relaxed atmosphere, and welcoming community activities.

Hornby is a small island (approximately 7,000 acres) located off Vancouver Island near Courtenay, B.C. It can be reached by ferry to Denman Island (a 10 minute ride) and a second 10 minute ferry from Denman to Hornby Island.

Nearby Grassy Point is known for its panoramic ocean and coastal mountain views and for breathtaking sunsets.


Helliwell Provincial Park, Hornby Island

Helliwell Provincial Park is a jewel located on a rocky headland forested with a beautiful stand of old-growth Douglas fir, gnarled Garry oaks, groves of Arbutus trees, and wild holly. Walking the trails along the stunning Helliwell bluffs provides spectacular views of the Strait of Georgia, Coast mountains, and marine life such as seals and sea lions.


Hornby Island Festival

An exciting highlight of life on Hornby is the annual Hornby Island Festival, established in 1982. This year it happens from July 30-August 8, 2009. The program includes classical, jazz, world beat and traditional genres of music, modern dance, children's programming, theatre, and spoken word. Hornby community invites you to be more than just a guest. Be part of community life! After a day on the beach, visit artists' studios, including the studio of world-famous potter, Wayne Ngan. Take in a Saturday evening film showing at the Community Centre, enjoy genuine Hornby Island coffee and live music at the Co-op Centre, visit the Cardboard House bakery that has the best pizza in the world! (and live music on Wednesdays and Sundays).
